ERNEST MALAVE

Ernie’s hospitality journey began over 20 years ago when he took a summer job as a bellman at a Marriott hotel in upstate New York.  He discovered his passion for the hotel industry because it allowed him to experience diverse people and cultures.  In that first role, Ernie got bit by proverbial ‘bug’ and has since served in hotel leadership roles with Marriott, IHG, Choice, and Hilton.  His passion for the industry fueled him to return to college. Even after a 20-year hiatus, he earned his degree in Hospitality & Tourism Management with a minor in International Business from Johnson & Wales University.

In 2020 Ernie joined the LBA team, serving as the Regional Director of Operations over the Florida region.  Ernie expertly develops his hotel teams, encouraging them to reach the very best of their potential.  When hotels keep guest satisfaction top of mind, focusing on budgeting accuracy and taking proactive approaches to capital projects, they can successfully maximize top-line revenues and bottom-line profits.

When Ernie is not working, he enjoys spending time with his family and two dogs, exploring their city, visiting local restaurants and craft breweries, and participating in outdoor activities such as mountain biking, hiking, and kayaking.   With a passion for traveling abroad, he and his family pledged to experience the world and embrace different cultures. They’ve visited five countries so far and look forward to making new memories as they continue to explore.
