The Check-In with LBA: Featuring Scott Reid
We checked in with Scott Reid, Vice President of Operations, to chat about what makes LBA stand out, the company’s approach to opportunity and collaboration with associates, and what it looks like to unwind when off the job.
Q: What makes the LBA guest experience stand out?
SCOTT: It all starts with our people. We’ve built a culture rooted in heartfelt hospitality — beginning with enhanced onboarding for both GMs and associates, updated training, and a focus on diversity and internal growth. Many of our leaders have risen through the ranks, which fosters empathy, understanding, and a hands-on leadership style. Our regional teams regularly visit hotels to support operations and share best practices, helping every team deliver standout service with consistency and care.
Q: How is LBA approaching Food & Beverage?
SCOTT: Food & Beverage continues to be a key area of opportunity, and we’re embracing it. Our corporate F&B team is elevating banquet and catering menus while staying cost-conscious. We’re activating outlets with local flair, creative offerings, and live entertainment — making them a true extension of the guest experience. With increased brand flexibility, we can offer buffet or à la carte options tailored to each hotel’s needs and guest expectations.
Q: Why are internal committees like GMAC valuable?
SCOTT: Our internal committees, like the General Manager Advisory Council, create space for collaboration and innovation. When ideas come from within, our teams feel a sense of ownership — and that leads to stronger engagement and better results. These committees bring together passionate individuals who care deeply about our culture, our people, and our performance, which drives continuous improvement across LBA.
Q: How do you unwind outside of work?
SCOTT: I love traveling with my family and exploring new places — our recent ATV trip along the coast of Aruba was a highlight. Fall weekends are for tailgating and cheering on the Panthers, Vols, or App State. But honestly, my favorite way to unwind is on the front porch with my wife Haley, our kids, and our pups — just taking in the view and enjoying the moment.
