Andy Hoekenga, PHR, SHRM-CP

Andy Hoekenga’s professional philosophy has been inspired by the work ethic, ingenuity, compassion and curiosity modeled by his stepdad, who served his career in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and taught Andy how to build and fix most anything. A Human Resources Generalist for LBA Hospitality, Andy reflects his stepfather’s commitment to teach and encourage others, his thoughtful approach to repairing what is broken and his can-do spirit of innovation.

After an eight-year stint working in corporate HR for a relocation and storage company, Andy joined the LBA team in 2020. His primary responsibilities include providing training to managers and associates, communicating and implementing HR policies, supporting managers with the interpretation and execution of regulations, conducting internal investigations and managing the company’s annual feedback surveys. Andy also offers general HR support and works to promote even greater associate engagement at LBA.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Troy University in Troy, Alabama, and has achieved certification as a Professional in Human Resources from the Human Resources Certification Institute and is a Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Certified Professional. He aspires to live his life in accordance with George Harrison’s belief that, “If everyone would wake up and do even a little, there could be no misery in the world.”

An avid grilling enthusiast, Andy often can be found cooking up something new on his smoker. He also plays guitar and enjoys attending rock concerts, taking trips with his family, reading, watching football and cheering for Alabama and the Atlanta Braves. He most enjoys spending time with his wife, Samantha, and their two boys.
